Local Oxford-based dance company, Body Politic, are offering a FREE online hip hop programme for young people aged 11-16 years. The programme will be coupled with a research study conducted by researchers at the Social Body Lab and funded by the TORCH Theatres Seed Fund. Young people from anywhere in the UK can take part.

With our third national lockdown in full force and young people bracing themselves for more remote learning, this project comes at a time when young people are experiencing more challenges than ever. The lead researcher of the project, Dr Bahar Tuncgenc says: “Arts and physical activity can be very beneficial for improving social connectedness, resilience and self-esteem. We want to find out whether engaging in our creative dance programme would promote young people’s wellbeing during these much-needed times, in the midst of the Covid-19 crisis.”

Led by Body Politic's Artistic Director, EmJ Greig, this five-week intensive is for young aspiring dancers who are keen to improve knowledge and technique in performance, improvisation and choreography.

Registration deadline: Monday 11th January 2021 (first session is on Monday 18th January)
