A conversation between Thomas Motter (University of California, Los Angeles) and Krishnan Ram-Prasad (University of Oxford)
Recent research has shown new interest in the role of relative clauses in Anatolian and Indo-European linguistics, generating new debates on their origins, functions, and implications for linguistic theory and typology. In this seminar, Thomas Motter and Krishnan Ram-Prasad will explore how Hittite fits into the broader Indo-European picture, what makes its relative clauses unique, and how recent scholarship is reshaping our understanding of Proto-Indo-European syntax.
