Marnie Thomas discusses working with the iconic dancer and choreographer Martha Graham, who was named "Dancer of the Century" by Time Magazine in 1998. Martha Graham founded the Martha Graham Dance Studio in 1926 and it remained under her personal guidance for the next 66 years. Professor Marni Thomas joined the Martha Graham Dance Company in 1958, toured and performed with the Company, taught at the Graham School, and was part of the first generation of women to perform Ms.Graham’s own roles as Graham began choosing successors for her earlier repertory reconstructions. She was Director of the Martha Graham School from 2003-2006.

Professor Thomas is Professor Emerita of University of California Berkeley, former soloist with the Martha Graham Company, and currently a member of the Graham School faculty, consultant to the Graham Company.
