Please note - Workshop 1 and 2 are open to Oxford University staff and students only.

We will explore the meaning of history through a selection of photos and the genre of photography, asking how this technology and these images capture the sense and memory of home, of everyday rituals, and of cultural encounters. From family portraits to everyday street scenes, we will look at how visual materials shape our perceptions of places and peoples. In the workshop, you will be guided to develop an ekphrastic poem or flash fiction and learn new techniques in creating imageries and precision. If you can, please bring along your own photos that inspire you when you think about home.
