About this event
Since time immemorial, the quality to which translations have been asked to aspire is 'invisibility'. But, finally, things are starting to shift. In this session, we look at what it might mean to liberate translation from behind the wings and allow it onto the stage. Bringing together group reading, discussion, and creative writing exercises, this friendly, intimate workshop will look at 'visible translation' from various angles. Open to anyone with an interest in language, creative writing, and translation; no foreign language skills are necessary.
This workshop is part of Polly Barton’s translation residency in Oxford, supported by The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities and the Queen’s College Translation Exchange. https://torch.ox.ac.uk/polly-barton
