Queer Studies Network
Note: The Queer Studies Network is no longer running. You may be interested in our new network, Queer Intersections Oxford.
Running from 2017-2020, Oxford’s first interdisciplinary Queer Studies Network aims to bring together the many scholars at the University of Oxford whose work engages with queer studies, in order to open up new avenues for engagement with queer theory, marginalised voices and LGBTQIA+ experiences, art and activism.
Queer studies, by nature, reaches beyond institutional and disciplinary boundaries. We therefore look to collaborate with and learn from Oxford University staff, members of the Oxford community and diverse communities and movements in and beyond Oxford, in order to establish a vibrant centre for queer studies and intersectional activism. At a time when the power of imagined borders is increasingly evident across the globe, we aim to interrogate the processes by which borders are constructed and explore the disruptive possibilities of queerness.
We meet weekly for lectures, reading groups, seminars, workshops and one-off events that foster diversity at Oxford. We support queer studies research and researchers, promote activism and engage with the wider LGBTQIA+ community.
All are warmly welcome to participate.
